Dr. Tom Watcyn-Jones is an experienced Consultant Urologist, Senior Medical Leader, and governance specialist with an extensive portfolio of clinical, leadership, educational, and regulatory roles across the NHS and independent healthcare sector. He is recognised for combining high-quality patient care with strategic clinical leadership, service development, medical governance, and postgraduate education throughout the UK. 

Clinical Work

Consultant Urologist – NHS Fife & Independent Practice 

Tom is a Consultant Urologist within NHS Fife, where he undertakes both elective and emergency urological practice. He is a specialist in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and advanced endourology and works within the National Treatment Centre for BPH delivering modern surgical management for men with prostate enlargement and lower urinary tract symptoms. 

His NHS clinical work is based primarily at: 

  • Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline 

  • Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy

 

In the independent sector, Tom consults and operates at: 

  • Spire Shawfair & Murrayfield Hospital

  • Kings Park Hospital – Circle Health

Dr. Thomas Watcyn-Jones has led and contributed to multiple service development projects focused on improving cancer diagnosis pathways, reducing patient waiting times, and introducing innovative urological procedures.

Dr. Thomas Watcyn-Jones has worked closely with a number of NHS trusts to improve patient outcomes and experiences, while providing support to services facing operational and clinical challenges. He has played a key role in helping develop, stabilise, and sustain services across several organisations, and is proud that many of these services continue to run successfully today. He sits on the Faculty for the British Association of Urological Surgeons FRCS Viva Course and contributes to the Royal College of Surgeons Core Urology Training Modules, helping to educate and mentor the next generation of urological surgeons.

Family Life

Outside of medicine, Tom is kept far busier at home than he is in theatre — as a proud father of four children, owner of two dogs, and reluctant co-manager of two surprisingly demanding tortoises. 

He is supported by his incredible wife, who somehow manages to work full-time, run “The Tribe,” keep the family organised, and generally ensure everything functions smoothly while Tom spends most of his time either in hospital, on calls, or looking for car keys.
